# Design keyboard shortcuts

Every keyboard shortcut on the Design canvas, for tools, selecting, editing, arranging, zooming and the agent.

On a Mac, use **⌘** where this page says **Ctrl**, and **Option** for
**Alt**.

## Tools

| **I** | Inspiration |
| **Esc** | Back to Move |

## Select

| Keys | Does |
|---|---|
| Click | Select the innermost layer |
| **Ctrl**+click | Select the outer layer |
| **Shift**+click | Add to or take from the selection |
| Double-click | Go one level deeper; edit text or a shape's points |
| **Enter** | Edit the selected text or shape's points, or select the first layer inside |
| **Esc** | Select the parent, then the artboard, then nothing |
| **Ctrl+A** | Select the whole artboard |

## Edit

| **Ctrl+C** / **Ctrl+X** / **Ctrl+V** | Copy / cut / paste. You can also paste HTML or plain text. |
| **Ctrl+D** | Duplicate |
| **Delete** or **Backspace** | Delete the layer or artboard |
| **Shift+A** | Wrap in flex |
| **]** / **[** | Bring forward / send backward |
| **Ctrl+Shift+H** | Hide or show |
| **Ctrl+Shift+L** | Lock or unlock |
| Arrow keys | Move 1 px (or earlier/later in a row or column) |
| **Shift**+arrow keys | Move 10 px |

## While editing text

| **Ctrl+K** | Link the selected words |

## Drawing with the pen

| Click | Add a corner point |
| Drag | Add a curved point |
| Click the first point | Close the shape |
| **Backspace** | Take back the last point |
| **Enter** or **Esc** | Finish the path |

## While editing a shape's points

| Keys | Does |
|---|---|
| Drag a point or handle | Move it |
| **Alt**+drag a handle | Move that handle on its own |
| Click the outline | Add a point |
| Double-click a point | Switch it between corner and smooth |
| **Delete** or **Backspace** | Remove the selected point |
| **Enter** or **Esc** | Finish |

## While dragging

| Keys | Does |

| **Shift** (resizing) | Keep the shape |
| **Ctrl** (moving) | Turn snapping off |
| Drag from a ruler | Add a guide (drag it back onto the ruler to remove it) |
| **Alt** (with something selected) | Measure the distance to what you point at |

## Arrange and zoom

| **Shift+1** | Fit everything |
| **Shift+2** | Zoom to the selection |

| **Ctrl+0** | Zoom to 100% |
| **Ctrl+G** | Show or hide layout grids |
| **Shift+R** | Show or hide rulers and guides |
| **Ctrl**+scroll | Zoom where you point |
| **Shift**+scroll | Pan sideways |

## Present

| Click a linked layer | Go to its board |
| **Backspace** | Back to the board before |
| **←** / **→** | Previous / next board on the page |
