# Sign in on your phone

Sign in to Machine Mobile with an emailed code or your password, and what "This device" means.

Machine Mobile uses your Machine account. If you don't have one yet, create
it on the web first: tap **Sign up on the web** at the bottom of the sign-in
screen.

## With an emailed code

### Enter your email

Type your **Email** and tap **Send code**.
### Enter the code

Machine emails you a 6-digit code: *"It works once and expires in an
hour."* Type it into **Code from the email**.
### Name this device

**This device** is filled in for you, such as *Machine on Android* or
*Machine on iPhone*. Change it if you like. It's how this phone appears in
your account's list of devices.
### Tap Sign in

You're in. Your bots appear on the **Bots** tab.

Didn't get the code? Check your spam folder, then tap **Send a new code**.

## With a password

Tap **Sign in with a password instead**, then enter your **Email**,
**Password** and **This device**, and tap **Sign in**. To go back to codes,
tap **Email me a code instead**.

## Staying signed in

You stay signed in until you sign out.

To sign out on a phone, open **Settings → General → Account → Sign out**. On
an iPad, or any screen wide enough to show the sidebar, tap your name at the
bottom of the sidebar and choose **Sign out**. Your bots and threads stay on
Machine. See [Settings](/docs/desktop/mobile/settings#account).

## If signing in fails

| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| *"Machine is unreachable…"* | Check your connection and tap **Try again**. |
| The code doesn't work | Codes work once and expire after an hour. Tap **Send a new code**. |
| Wrong password | Use **Email me a code instead**, then set a new password on the web. |
