# Use your own subscription

Run bots on your own Claude or Cursor plan instead of your Machine balance. How to connect, how the models appear, and the rules for shared threads.

If you already pay for Claude or Cursor, your bots can use that plan instead
of your Machine balance.

## How it works

- You connect your subscription **on the Machine web app**.
- Its models then appear in the model list in Machine Desktop.
- Turns on those models run on **your** plan.

Because it's your personal plan, a subscription model only works in threads
**you** started.

## Claude

### Connect Claude on the web

On the Machine web app, connect your Claude subscription to the project.
### Sign in to Claude for the thread

Claude needs you to sign in for each session. Do this on the web app for the
thread you want to use.

Until you do, the model list in Machine Desktop shows a note: *"Claude
subscription: sign in to Claude for this session on the web to use your Claude
models here."*
### Pick a Claude model

In Machine Desktop, open the **model chip**. Your Claude models appear with
**(Subscription)** after the name, for example **Claude Opus
(Subscription)**. Pick one.

## Cursor

### Connect Cursor on the web

On the Machine web app, connect your Cursor account. One connection covers
all your threads in that project.
### Pick a Cursor model

In Machine Desktop, open the **model chip**. Cursor models appear as **…
via Cursor**. **Auto via Cursor** lets Cursor choose the model.

## Rules for shared threads

| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your own thread | Subscription models work. |
| A teammate's thread | Your subscription models don't appear. If one is selected, your message is held, and you see a message starting with **⚠** explaining why. |
| Claude not signed in for this session | Your message is held with a **⚠** message. Sign in on the web, then send again. |

To use your subscription on a teammate's work, start your own thread with
that bot.

## Common questions

**Does a subscription model use my Machine balance?**
The model's work runs on your plan. The bot's computer still runs on
Machine.

**Can I use my ChatGPT plan?**
Models your team has connected on the Machine web app appear in the model
list. Check the web app for which providers you can connect.

**My subscription models disappeared.**
Make sure you're in a thread you started, and for Claude, that you've signed
in for this session on the web. Then click **↻** in the model list.
