# Your files and key

Where Pixio results are saved, why links expire, editing your own photos and videos, and how your Pixio key is kept safe.

## Where results go

Pixio's download links expire after about a week, so the bot **saves every
result onto its computer** as soon as it's ready: in a `media` folder unless
you name another. The reply tells you the file name.

To download it, click the file if the reply links it, or open the bot's
computer panel → **Computer**. See [Files on the bot's computer](/docs/desktop/cloud-computer/files).

Results also stay in your Pixio account's library, where you can find them
later or ask the bot to: *"Find the grand-opening images in my Pixio
library."*

## Use your own files

To edit a photo, animate an image, or lip-sync a video you already have:

1. **Attach it** to your message (or drag it into the
   [Live view](/docs/desktop/live/live-view#upload-files-by-dropping-them)),
or point to a file already on the bot's computer.
2. **Ask:** *"Remove the background from this photo."*

The bot sends the file to Pixio **through Machine**, so your key never goes
onto the bot's computer.

- Files up to **50 MB** each.
- For longer videos, share a public link instead and the bot will import it.

## Your key is safe

- **Machine keeps the key encrypted on its server.** Machine Desktop doesn't
store it, and the bot never sees it. Machine adds it when the bot talks to
  Pixio.
- **Never paste the key into a chat.** If you did, revoke it in Pixio and
  [connect a new one](/docs/desktop/pixio/connect#replace-the-key).
- **Revoking the key in Pixio** cuts off access everywhere at once. Machine
Desktop then shows a warning sign on the Pixio row, and **Manage** says
*"Pixio refused the saved key…"* until you paste a new one.
- **Disconnect** in Machine deletes the stored key from Machine.

## Who can use it

Once Pixio is connected to a bot, every agent in that bot can use it, and so
can anyone who can message the bot, including through [Inkbox](/docs/desktop/inkbox)
or [Slack](/docs/desktop/integrations/channels). They spend your Pixio
credits, so keep those channels' allow-lists tight.

## What isn't available

These stay in the Pixio app; bots can't do them through Machine:

- Pixio's own in-app chat assistant.
- Rendering or exporting **Boards**, **Canvas** and **Cinema** projects.
- The final assembly step of a **Video Agent** job.
- Pairing **Cam View**.
- Starting or cancelling model **training**. (Bots can list your training
jobs and use a finished one in prompts.)
- Changing your **model preferences**.

Everything else, from generating to managing your library, workflows,
projects and characters, works through Machine.
