# Languages

Change the language of Machine Desktop, and which languages are available.

## Change the language

1. Open **Settings → General**.
2. Under **Language**, choose a language, or **System** to follow your
   computer's language.

The change applies straight away and is saved on this computer.

## Available languages

| Hindi | हिन्दी |
| Japanese | 日本語 |
| Portuguese (Brazil) | Português (Brasil) |
| Chinese, Simplified | 简体中文 |
| Chinese, Traditional (Taiwan) | 繁體中文（台灣） |
| Ukrainian | Українська |

With **System**, Portuguese is shown as Portuguese (Brazil), and Traditional
Chinese for Hong Kong and Macau uses the Taiwan translation.

Some parts of the app aren't translated yet and stay in English in every
language.

## The language bots reply in

The app's language doesn't change what language bots reply in. Bots reply in
the language you write to them. To always get replies in one language, add it
to the bot's [Soul](/docs/desktop/bots/soul): *"Always reply in Spanish."*
