Machine Cloud

Run agents in Machine Cloud sandboxes from Machine Code, follow them from the app, and move work between your computer and the cloud.

Why use the cloud

A Machine Cloud session runs the agent on its own computer in Machine, not yours. Use it when:

  • the task is long and you don't want it to tie up your computer,
  • you want to close your laptop and let the work carry on,
  • you want to use a Claude or Cursor subscription you connected to your Machine project (those only run in the cloud).

Cloud sessions are the same sessions you see on the Machine web app and in Machine Desktop. They're billed the same way.

Start a cloud task

On the New task screen, open Run on and choose Machine Cloud. It starts a Machine Cloud session in your project and opens it.

The Machine Cloud view

Click Machine Cloud in the sidebar to see your cloud sessions, grouped by project. Sessions that are running also show in the sidebar.

Open a session to:

  • read and continue the chat, answer questions, and approve requests,
  • browse and edit the files in its sandbox,
  • use its terminal,
  • open previews of anything it serves.

Opening a sleeping session wakes it. You see the saved history straight away while it starts.

You can search the model picker in a cloud session and drag the handles to resize the chat, files, and editor columns.

Move work to the cloud

Started a task on your computer and want it to keep going without you? Click Continue in Machine Cloud in the task's header.

  1. Decide what happens to changes you haven't committed: Commit them as WIP (recommended) or Leave them on this PC.
  2. Optionally tick Send a handoff note as the first message, so the cloud agent knows where things stand.
  3. Click Commit, push and continue (or Push and continue).

The branch goes to your Machine project, and a cloud session picks it up.

Bring work back

In a cloud session, click Pull to this PC. Machine Code fetches the session's branch into your local project so you can carry on locally.
