Machine Code

Remote computers

Run Machine Code agents on another computer you reach over SSH, like a build server or a dev box.

Machine Code can run agents on another computer, for example a powerful desktop at the office or a dev server, while you drive them from your laptop.

Set up the remote computer

Install Machine Code on the remote computer too, then start its background service there:

bash
machine-ide daemon start

Your project needs to be checked out on that computer as well. Machine Code is available for Windows and Mac, so for now the remote computer needs to run one of those.

Add it to Machine Code

Open the connection screen

In Settings, click Add remote computer, then Add connection, and choose Remote SSH.

Enter the address

Type the address in SSH host, for example ssh://you@devbox. If you set a password for the service on that computer, enter it in Service password.

Connect

Click Connect.

Machine Code uses your own SSH keys and installs nothing on the remote computer.

Use it

Once added, the computer shows up under Run on when you start a task, as this project's checkout there. The agent works on that computer, and you see its chat, changes, and terminals in Machine Code as usual.
