Create the Slack app
Machine gives you a Slack app manifest — a ready-made configuration. Create a new app from that manifest in your Slack workspace; it sets the right scopes, slash command, and event subscriptions for you.
Connect it to your project
Install the app to your workspace and connect it to the project with its bot token and signing secret. Machine stores these securely; once connected, the channel is live.
Set the channel's defaults
Choose the default agent, model, and any standing instructions the channel should use. These define how the agent behaves when someone starts work from Slack — so a support channel and an engineering channel can act differently.
Use it in a channel
Once connected, your team works with the agent right in Slack — describe a task, and the agent runs a session and replies in the thread. It can ask clarifying questions and you answer inline, the same back-and-forth you'd have in the dashboard, where everyone in the channel can follow along.
Slack is one of several ways in — the same project, sessions, and review gate back it. Work started from Slack shows up in the dashboard too, and still lands through a change request.
