After the call

The call card in the thread, what's in a transcript, how the bot follows up on what you said, and how to read, copy, or call again.

When you hang up, the call becomes part of the thread. Nothing is lost, and nothing needs retyping.

The call card

The transcript appears in the thread as a call card, sent from you:

A finished call in the thread: the folded call card, then the bot's follow-up

The folded card shows:

  • Live call with Writer · 4 min, and how many lines were said.
  • The last thing said, so you remember where you left off.
  • Up to four pictures the bot made on the call.

Read the whole call

  • On Machine Desktop: click the card's header. It opens in place and shows every line, with tool results in boxes and pictures you can click to open. Click again to fold it.
  • On a phone: tap the card. The transcript opens in a sheet, with Call again and a copy button at the bottom.

The call card opened: every line of the call, and the poster made during it

The bot follows up

The transcript is sent to the bot as a normal message from you, ending with: "That was our Live call. Carry on from it here and do anything I asked for in it."

So the bot:

  1. Reads the whole call, including the pictures and search results from Glyph's tools.
  2. Replies in the thread, usually with a summary of what you agreed.
  3. Does the work you asked for on the call, using its computer and your connected apps, like any other request.

This is the best way to use Live: talk it through, hang up, and let the bot write it up and get on with it.

It counts like a message

The bot's follow-up uses your Machine credits, the same as if you'd typed the request. The call itself is on your Glyph plan.

What's in a transcript

LineLooks like
What you saidYou: We open Saturday at 7…
What the bot saidWriter: Love it. Warm and round…
A tool resultImage · Made an image: …, with the picture

A few details:

  • Several things in a row from the same person are joined into one line.
  • Placeholders such as "[inaudible]" are left out.
  • The length is rounded to whole minutes, and is at least 1 minute.

Copy a transcript

  • On a phone: open the card and tap the copy button next to Call again. It says Copied for a moment.
  • On Machine Desktop: open the card, select the text, and copy it. You can also export the conversation.

Call again

Each call starts fresh on Glyph's side: it doesn't pick up the last call where it stopped. What the bot knows on a call is the thread itself. When a call starts, Machine gives it the thread's last 16 messages, each cut to its first 600 characters. An earlier call's transcript is one of those messages, so the bot remembers it only if it's among the last 16, and a long call only by its opening lines. The bot's follow-up summary in the thread helps here, so the next call sees what you agreed.

  • On a phone: open a call card and tap Call again.
  • Anywhere: click Live (or the Live button by the message box) in the same thread.

Where transcripts are kept

The call card is a message in the thread, so it's kept wherever the thread is: on Machine, on every device you sign in on. Deleting the thread deletes its call cards.
